SOFTWARE DEVELOPER¿S KIT (SDK)
The Software Developer¿s Kit (SDK) is a complete toolkit for providing fast, powerful custom development of the ID Card Maker software application, or creating customized applications of your own using components of the ID Card Maker application. You can purchase the SDK with the full version of ID Card Maker Elite Edition or as an option with Expert Edition.

The SDK enables you to:

• Write event handlers to change the behavior of the IDCM Process application or add custom behavior to one or more fi elds or functions.
• Write a stand-alone data entry application that uses the IDCM Printer and Capture applications, but bypasses the IDCM Process application.
• Develop custom printer plug-ins that utilize IDCM to print to a printerthat has a Windows print driver.
• Develop smart card application plug-ins to personalize smart cards for secure in-line issuance of cards through IDCM.

The SDK package includes:

• Tools to help develop and register event handlers, printer plug-ins and smart card applications.
• Sample projects that demonstrate various components of the SDK.
• A detailed programmer¿s reference document that describes how to customize IDCM or integrate custom components of IDCM into your environment.

BI-DIRECTIONAL ETHERNET NETWORKING
With the optional built in bi-directional Ethernet capabilities, the Polaroid P4000 Photo ID Card Printer lets you simply plug into and print cards from anywhere on your network. This is a great advantage for large organizations such as hospitals, corporations, casinos, colleges and universities.

The P4000 features:

• SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) support
• DHCP (Dynamic Host Confi guration Protocol) support
• ID Card Maker driver-compatible
• Backlit LCD panel for easy confi guration.

DATABASE CONNECTIVITY
Polaroid¿s Database Connection tools make it easy to create your own ID database from your ID project or link fi elds from your ID project to an existing database. Polaroid technology is designed to allow for easy connectivity to a wide range of databases, including:

LIGHTWEIGHT DIRECTORY ACCESS PROTOCOL (LDAP)
ID Card Maker Elite Edition supports Lightweight Directory AccessProtocol (LDAP) for Microsoft® Active Directory.® An open network protocol standard providing access to distributed directories, LDAP allows you to query and modify information about a wide range of network objects, including printers, applications, users and other resources. The LDAP models of information can all be queried and manipulated through ID Card Maker Elite Edition.

BAR CODE SUPPORT AND PDF417 BINARY BAR CODE
ID Card Maker supports 21 various Bar Code Symbologies in all levels of our software. In addition, ID Card Maker Elite supports encoding and printing the two-dimensional PDF417 binary bar code, which can store up to 1,800 printable ASCII (text/data) characters. The capacity of the PDF417 bar code can be helpful in ID applications where a large amount of data must travel with the badge. The PDF417 bar code can be read by laser scanners, two-dimensional scanners and linear scanners.

MAGNETIC ENCODING CAPABILITIESbr> Magnetic stripe encoding and reading is used by many applications, from access control to time and attendance. ID Card Maker, with our P3000 and P4000 printers, supports mapping data from your application or database to each of the three magnetic stripe tracks on your card. There are confi guration options available to set up individual tracks, presets and coercivity settings.
